On 13 October 2025, H.E. Mr. Justin McKenzie Smith, the United Kingdom’s new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary presented his credentials to H.E. Dr. Tamás Sulyok, President of Hungary at Sándor Palace.
In line with diplomatic tradition, the Ambassador then laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Heroes’ Square.
Commenting on taking up his service in Hungary, Ambassador Justin McKenzie Smith said: “I am deeply honoured to begin my posting as British Ambassador to Hungary, and I’m truly grateful for the warm welcome I have received. I look forward to strengthening the friendship between our two countries and working closely with our Hungarian partners. It is a privilege to be here, and I’m eager to get started.”
