On 13 October 2025, His Excellency Mr. Luis Ángel Redondo Gómez, the new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Spain, presented his credentials to His Excellency Dr. Tamás Sulyok, President of Hungary, during an official ceremony held in the Hall of Mirrors at the historic Sándor Palace in Budapest.

Rooted in Hungary’s diplomatic traditions, the event also included an audience with President Sulyok in the Blue Salon, formally marking the commencement of Ambassador Redondo’s mission as the Ambassador of Spain to Hungary. During the meeting, Ambassador Redondo reaffirmed his commitment to further strengthening the long-standing bonds of friendship and cooperation between Spain and Hungary. His appointment opens a new chapter in Spanish–Hungarian relations, built upon shared values, mutual respect, and enduring partnership.

In accordance with diplomatic custom, Ambassador Redondo also paid tribute to Hungary’s national heroes by laying a wreath at Heroes’ Square.

Ambassador Redondo brings with him a distinguished diplomatic career. A graduate in law from the University of Valladolid, he has been a member of the Spanish Diplomatic Service since 1999. His international assignments include Deputy Chief of Mission at the Spanish embassies in Addis Ababa (Ethiopia), Pretoria (South Africa), Maputo (Mozambique), and Wellington (New Zealand). He also served as Deputy Consul at the Spanish Consulate General in Moscow, and as Advisor on Human Rights at the Permanent Representation of Spain to the United Nations in Geneva. In Madrid, he held several key positions within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The appointment of Ambassador Luis Ángel Redondo Gómez symbolizes a renewed commitment to strengthening Spanish–Hungarian relations and deepening the friendship between the two nations.
