The Duna Pearl residential park in Újlipótváros, in the 13th district of Budapest, Hungary, has received a Gold rating in the LEED energy certification system, which is an international industry standard. It is extremely rare for a residential park to acquire the gold rating in this system, which basically recognises the architectural and technical solutions of office buildings.

LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) from the USA is the world’s most widely used certification system for green buildings, which rewards the energy solutions of the largest building complexes, the modernity and quality of the construction. The gold rating recently obtained by Budapest’s Duna Pearl proves that the building complex, in the LEED framework, highly meets the state-of-the-art requirements for a healthy environment, efficiently designed and energy-efficiently operated.

Duna Pearl is a major investment worth 75 million euros, which uses at least 20% renewable energy in accordance with EU construction regulations, including the most modern processes, the heat pump system that produces hot water from the air, as well as the cooling and heating solutions built into the structure. Residents who moved in could take over apartments equipped with mechanised premium kitchens, built-in furniture, shutters, LED suspended ceiling mood lighting and spotlights.

Moreover, they can enjoy the advantages of the latest soundproofing solutions between the floors and the comfort provided by the IT procedures typical of smart homes. As part of the construction project, the contractors renovated the surrounding streets, renewed the sidewalks, created new park areas, and opened the green surface on all sides, the newly created public, community spaces for the residents and visitors of the district. In addition to the architectural and mechanical solutions, the greening of the area’s environment and improving its liveability also weighed heavily in the evaluation, during which the Duna Pearl obtained a Gold rating in the LEED certification system.

About the Duna Pearl Project:

Duna Pearl, Polat’s first project in Budapest, joins the esteemed projects of sustainable and innovative buildings with the LEED Certification, which is globally recognised. The U.S. Green Building Council’s list, which supports increasing the quality of life environmentally and socially, includes over 105,000 LEED-certified buildings in approximately 190 countries worldwide.

Duna Pearl – the new pearl of Budapest – on the Pest side of the Danube river in Újlipótváros will certainly offer the last newly built apartments on the Danube for a long time. The investment realised at the junction of Pozsonyi út – Bessenyei utca includes 193 apartments, a 103-room Four Points by Sheraton hotel, numerous cafes and restaurants.

Thanks to the Turkish-owned builder and owner-contractor Polat Holding’s 65-year presence in the real estate, energy, industry and technology sectors, more than 20,000 apartments and hundreds of offices have been built, mostly in Türkiye.
