The ‘Summer of all Illusions’ is on the verge of becoming the ‘Summer of Nightmare’. Due to the Delta variant, COVID-19 cases are increasing everywhere, as this variant is 1060 times more contagious than the original virus.
In the United States alone, cases have risen from 12,000 per day to 86,000 per day in just a few weeks. Also of concern is that most cases, particularly in the unvaccinated community, are cases requiring hospitalisation and intensive care.
We assume that the alleviation of the hygiene rules will be cancelled and that more containment measures could be implemented all over again.
We are not winning this war.
