As the world watches, the United States of America embarks on a new chapter with the inauguration of Donald J. Trump as the 47th President of the United States.
On 20 January 2025, President Trump made history as the second former president to return for a non-consecutive second term, following Grover Cleveland. The day coincided with the federal holiday of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., honouring the life and legacy of one of America’s most revered civil rights leaders.
President Trump’s inauguration marks a pivotal moment for the United States and the global community. With an ambitious agenda, he has pledged to restore national strength, foster prosperity and uphold the values that define the American spirit. In his inaugural address, President Trump emphasized unity and the revival of the American dream. “Together, we will reclaim our greatness and chart a course toward a brighter future for every American,” he stated.
The event garnered significant international attention, with global leaders and dignitaries in attendance. In a message to President Trump, His Holiness Pope Francis expressed:
“Inspired by your nation’s ideals of being a land of opportunity and welcome for all, it is my hope that under your leadership, the American people will prosper and always strive to build a more just society, where there is no room for hatred, discrimination, or exclusion. I also ask God to guide your efforts in promoting peace and reconciliation among peoples.”
